Motorcycle Shows and Rallies: What Vendors Need to Think About Part I
Recently a client who just came out with a unique motorcycle product asked me where she would have the most success selling her product. Although, people who go to motorcycle shows and rallies certainly know the difference, new vendors who are just starting out will find the below helpful. I know that these are broad generalizations, but they at least give new vendors some idea of the difference and certainly things to think about.
Motorcycle shows usually have a much higher percentage of people who arrive in automobiles and also who bring the entire family. It seems that many of them are there just to have a family afternoon and that many of them do not ride. So if a promoter tells you that there were 10K attendees before you need to really ask questions to be able to find out how many attendees might be potential customers.
Unlike most rallies, the focus at motorcycle shows is not just on v twin engine bikes. Actually when you look at the numbers you will find that v twin bikes make up usually less than a third of larger displays. There are a lot more large displays for sport bikes, dirt bikes, scooters, and ATVs. So most vendors will only have products that are attractive to one segment of the motorsports industry riders.
