The Downside of Tons of Vendors Part II

Previously I wrote that there is a downside of having too many vendors for promoters, attendees and vendors.  Below is the second part of this article.

The year following a rally having too many vendors a number of things happen and will especially happen during a period with high gas prices and a weaker economy because riders have to cut down the number of events that they attend.

For the attendees who are really looking to do shopping, the first year they might be disappointed because the number of vendors might have misled them to the actual number of quality companies being represented.  The following year, some of the attendees who were interested in shopping and after seeing the previous years vendors offerings might not attend the rally who have to cut down the number of events that they go to.

If they do give the rally a second shot, the next year will be even more disappointing.  Imagine if you were a manufacturer of motorcycle neon year 1 and although your product was superior, many attendees buy the cheap neon from the van with a 10×10 canopy selling lights they purchased from a superstore.  The big neon manufacturer won’t be showing up because they lost money.
