Although it may seem convenient, you really need to be careful who you let install anything on your motorcycle at a rally. Yep, they might be at a rally and have paid for a booth, but do they really know what they are doing?
Many of the hired help get paid less than $100 a day and since they are just an employee they have little incentive to do quality work if they even know how. So don’t fool yourself in thinking that you have a qualified installer of any motorcycle because you might just have a kid that was hired from your local grocery store to make some extra money.
A good example, a friend of mine bought a product that needed to be wired on his motorcycle (I omit the type of product intentionally) and it was a disaster. He paid $300 to get the product and installation and seemed pretty happy until the following week when he found some wires had become crossed and melted some of his wires.
Now that sounds like a pain in the ass, but it gets worse. When he took his bike into the shop to have it taken apart and fixed they had to remove the fairing. Well the local grocery store kid apparently could not get the wires to line up right so he forced it down, cutting some wires that shorted out and ended up pushing so hard on the faring that it cracked it.
At the end of the day, the convenient installation ended up costing my friend and extra $600. I am not saying that every company at a rally will end up screwing up your motorcycle, but be careful.
