You might have seen the “Black Widow” steampunk inspired motorcycle, but a question a lot of people might have is, “Who or what is a Steampunk Holmes?” The answer is that he is a character in Richard Monson-Haefel’s stories in the Legacy of Nautilus.
Steampunk Holmes is a mixture of fictional characters, including Sherlock Holmes, and merged stories set in a steampunk alternative universe. In the stories, the character rides a steampunk motorcycle called the “Black Widow.”
Monson-Haefel happened upon a steampunk chopper designed by Mikhail Smolyanov of Solifague Design. The two spoke about and agreed to utilize the likeness of his steampunk motorcycle to be the one Steampunk Holmes rides in the stories.
To get one made, Monson-Haefel contacted Putsch Racing, who was able to design a functional version of the motorcycle. Although the “Black Widow” was initially designed without a sidecar, Putsch Racing designed and added one to make it look more like the bike Steampunk Holmes rides in the stories.
Putsch Racing was going to offer the steampunk chopper for sale to the general public, but as of now, research does not show that there were any sold. Let us know what you think of the “Black Widow” on social media.
