This past Saturday, March 26th, was the third annual Giddy Up Vintage Chopper Show held in New Braunfels, Texas. This wasn’t my first Giddy Up Show as I went in 2015. Last year, I went hoping that it was as cool of an event as what I read about it, and this year I went because my expectations were exceeded in 2015.
Rarely do I use the phrase “old school”, but with Giddy Up there really isn’t a better phrase to describe the bikes. The old school motorcycles were not just limited to the two dozen or so in the builders’ showcase, but there were a lot of retro bikes lined up along the streets before the entrance to the show.
To see as many cool retro choppers and other styles of motorcycles that could be seen at many Texas rallies in an hour, they could be seen in a ten-minute walk to the entrance. Yeah, Giddy Up was this good.
In addition to the bad ass bikes, the Texas Tornadoes played a good show. Another cool part was the campground right down the road from the Ice House where a lot of people stayed and partied the night before and after the Show.
If you’re in Texas and want to see some top-shelf vintage choppers and other styles of bikes, the 2017 Giddy Up is one show you shouldn’t miss.
