Sturgis, SD – Linked by a love of all things on two wheels, Lance Armstrong will be joined by a cast of motorcycling and bicycling VIP’s in an effort to raise funding for the Sturgis All-Volunteer Fire Department. An experienced enduro motorcycle rider, Armstrong was invited by the city of Sturgis to come and ride and was subsequently named Grand Marshal of the 12th Annual Mayor’s Ride, taking place on Monday, August 4th at 9:00 am, departing from the City of Riders Expo in downtown Sturgis, South Dakota.
Joining Armstrong will be Superbike legends Ben and Eric Bostrom, known as the “Boz Bros”, who are also avid cyclists and will be filming a Cafe Racer episode with Armstrong as a guest. Along with the Bostroms is stunt-riding legend Jason Britton, also an avid cyclist, who will be performing at 12:00 and 2:00 on Monday and Tuesday at Lot 32 off of Interstate 90. Joining all of them will be Armstrong friend and motorcycle enthusiast Scott Tedro, owner of Sho-Air Cycling Group. A mountain bike racing mainstay and moto enthusiast who has worked with Britton and the Bostrom Brothers in the past, Tedro is working diligently with Sturgis officials to consider a future mountain bike race and grand fondo event in the area.
“This is a great, progressive community that has its eye on the future and I’d love to see a big cycling event in the area alongside this incredible established motorcycle event,” said Tedro. “But first, I’m happy to help raise money for a great cause like the Sturgis Fire Department. You can’t enjoy the trails or the scenery without fire prevention. Please join the cause. The goal is low, and we’d love to triple it!”
