Earlier this year, Chris Harris from Drive produced a video pitting a Porsche 911 GT2 RS against a Ducati 1199 Panigale in a drag race. The Porsche was slaughtered and had no chance. This time, Chris and motorcyclist Ben Cope from Visordown.com went to a 2 mile runway to see what happens when you let a GT2 RS stretch beyond 150mph. Watch the video:
Of course, many of you weren’t surprised by the first video—in a shorter race fast bikes always beat fast cars. The quickness and superior acceleration of motorcycles comes from their better power to weight ratio. In this second contest the car has an advantage: its better aerodynamic shape allows it to better overcome wind resistance in higher speeds and eventually catches up and makes it for the lost ground. In higher speeds, the bike uses more and more of its power to overcome wind resistance.
