Here are the winners in the Performance class in the the 2012 World Championship of Custom Bike Building that took place during Sturgis 2012. An interesting fact about the bike that took first place: it was built by a group of female motorcycle enthusiasts slash models, but if you read between the lines, you’ll find that they work and weld under the supervision of bike builder Jim Giuffra of AFT Customs of Jackson, California. This is my third post about this year’s championship—see the winners in the Freestyle and Modified Harley-Davidson.
Performance Custom Class 1st Place, AFT Customs (USA)
The bike that took first place, and was built by the girls I talked about in the beginning, is a customized Honda VT 750 BR called “Halia.”
Performance Custom Class 2nd Place, BREW Bikes (USA)
Second came Steve Garn from Brew Bikes LLC. Steve customized a 1971 Honda CB 350. It cost him only $1,800 in bought parts.
Performance Custom Class 3rd Place, BTRmoto (USA)
Curt Winter of BTRmoto won the third place with his custom bike “BTR GP.” The bike features a Harley-Davidson Twin Cam 88 engine, custom race frame, inverted Showa front end, and a custom-built, proprietary 5 speed drivetrain.
