This year Harley-Davidson celebrates its 110th year anniversary as a motorcycle manufacturer, or as HD calls it—“a year-long, world-wide celebration of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts.” There’s no all-new model in the 2013 lineup, though the introduction of such seems relevant and logical (either Seventy-Two or the Softail Slim would have made an excellent 110th anniversary bike). Harley, however, decided to honor the occasion with special 110th anniversary editions of seven of its standard models and three CVO models. See Part 2 of 2013 Harley-Davidson Lineup Overview.
Special 110th Anniversary Editions
Seven standard HD models will receive special 110th anniversary badges and will have a limited production run—the Sportster 1200 and the big V-Twins Heritage Softail Classic, Electra Glide Ultra Limited, Super Glide Custom, Road King, Tri Glide Ultra Classic, and Fat Boy Lo. Harley is also offering three 2013 CVO models with optional 110th anniversary badges and color schemes: the 2013 Harley-Davidson CVO Road King, Road Glide Custom, and Ultra Classic Electra Glide. The anniversary CVOs will cost about a $1000 more than a standard CVO.
All 110th Anniversary Edition models will have special wing-shaped, solid-bronze badges on the fuel tank with the Harley logo in contrasting gold color. To keep it exclusive Harley will run a limited production of all the 110th anniversary edition models—for example, only 900 anniversary units of the 2013 CVO Road King will be produced.
Restyled Street Bob
The popular and most affordable of the Big V-Twins, the Street Bob, was restyled for 2013, now featuring a new blacked-out triple clamps and powertrain, and a chopped rear fender with side-mounted license plate, side-mounted taillight, round air-cleaner, tapered mufflers, and a new black battery cover. In addition, the Street Bob will be now on the web-based Bike Builder on Harley-Davidson.com, which means that customers will be able to customize their new Street Bob by selecting factory-installed options.
Expanded Hard Candy Custom Styling Option
Also new for 2013 is the expanded Hard Candy custom styling option that was initially introduced with the Harley Seventy-Two. Harley describes the Hard Candy as “a styling movement rooted in themes first seen in the chopper era of the late 1960s that embraces dazzling metal flake paint, brilliant chrome, and styling details in accessories, gear and apparel.” The “big flake” paint finishes are now available in green and gold in addition to the original red. At least one Hard Candy Custom color will be offered on the Seventy-Two, Street Bob, Blackline, Softail Deluxe, and Forty-Eight.
Discontinued Models—Sportster XR1200X & Sportster XL1200N Nightster
The Harley-Davidson Sportster XR1200X and Sportster XL1200N Nightster were dropped from the Sportster range because of lagging sales.
