This custom bike named “Rolling Thunder’ was built by Dar Holdsworth of Darwin Motorcycles who wanted to honor U.S. Navy serviceman and women with the project. Holdsworth is a U.S. Air Force Desert Storm veteran and comes from a U.S. military family. The process of building the bike was filmed by Navy Defense Media for the American Forces Network (watch the video below).
Rolling Thunder is powered by a 93″ S&S Knucklehead engine, built on a Racing Innovations rigid frame. The fender and gas tank are made of solid blocks of aluminum that took about 300 hours to fabricate.
The U.S. Navy bike is one of 4 custom motorcycles, each built to honor a separate branch of the United States Armed Forces. The four bikes will be displayed at various military events and motorcycle rallies.
