I found these interesting research data about the motorcycle industry in the United States that I’d like to share with our readers. The data was published January 2012 and is from 2012-2013 Leisure Market Research Handbook.
In the United States, there are about 11 million motorcycles. The estimated number of Americans who ride motorcycles at least once a year is 25 million. The number of American adults who own a motorcycle is 9% of the total population. Every year about 1 million new motorcycles are sold in the United States, which includes 250,000 scooters. The annual U.S. motorcycle market is estimated at $18 billion. Harley-Davidson has 47% share in the on-road motorcycle market.
